Television = the wasteland of broken dreams and totalitarian ideologies.

You know what's a hip TV - program here in Finland ? In fact , it's been that way for the last ten years or so. Better take a good guess , my dear reader..

Since, it may come as a surprise to you , that one of the most watched foreign television shows in the Finnish networks is quite surprisingly an age-old show from the US called "bold and the beautiful". Apparently no one watches that crap out in the US anymore (been like that for years) , but apparently out here in Finland the old grandma's and grandpa's are freakin' glued to their seats when that show pops into the viewscreens..

That show has been shown here for the last ten years. I saw a documentary about it sometime ago , and in it the producers of the show proudly declared that they were very content that there were such huge amounts of fans for it in Finland. Since , "frankly , no one watches it that much anymore in the united states" the screenwriters proclaimed.

Well , that's just great , now isn't it ? We get all the waste that even the American audiences have decided not to watch since there's really nothing new that the series could offer them. Still , the series is still in production and at least around here , it's very popular ! But , mind you , "popular" among the older portions of the population. For instance , I heard of this group of old people that went to a few day-trip to Lapland. Over there , as they reached their little hotel , some of these old bags decided to order the cooks to prepare their lunch exactly for eleven o'clock contrary to what the other guests normally ate lunch at.

Why , you ask ? Well , at eleven o'clock the reruns of "bold and beautiful" begun. They wanted their food and the regular dose of soap-operas at the same time. The other guests and their requests and needs were secondary.

What a bunch of stuck-up old-timers..
